What to wear to the gym

There is an old saying, "When you start worrying what to wear to the gym, its time to just stay home." What that means is you are there to work, not impress. Do your impressing with the body that you build. However we all need to war something, so here are some ideas for the next time you go train.

Shirts -
Unless you are a professional body builder, don't wear those string tank tops. Its okay to wear anything that you feel comfortable in, but be mindful of what you have on. T-shirts, sleeveless tees, or a sports bra for women are completely acceptable. If you are a guy and want to wear a sports bra keep in mind that you will be laughed at no matter how great your abs look.

Pants -vs- Shorts -
Wear what you feel comfortable. If you want to wear shorts, then cool. Some people prefer sweats. Just make sure that whatever you wear does not hinder your workout. I like to wear pants when I lift and shorts when I do cardio.

Shoes -
High heels are definitely out. Cross-trainers work best. My favorite brand is Adidas, but you wear what you like. The reason I say cross-trainers is because you do a lot of different things in the gym. If you stick to one type, it might limit your performance.

That's about it for attire. It is pretty simple. Wear what you want to. Also its a good idea to bring a towel with you to wipe up your sweat. If your gym allows you to bring a bottle of water, then do that as well. Most workouts require at least 16oz of water to be replaced after training. If you can sip that amount during you workout, then you will be ahead of the game! Happy training!
